Commodore C64 VIC-II Adapter

Commodore C64 VIC-II Adapter

$2.50
Kit or Assembled

This is a PCB fabricated from Jari Tulilahti's design available on PCBWay Shared Projects*. This adapter allows you to use a more recent version, more affordable version of the VIC-II (i.e., the PAL 8562 and NTSC 8562) in boards that need the previous version (i.e., PAL 6569 or NTSC 6567). Since the 656x version of the VIC-II has a slightly different pinout and requires 12V, this adapter omits the 12V rail, powers the chip with 5V per its requirement, and routes the signals to their proper places. You may want to consider this board if you want to keep your C64 as original as possible, have a dead VIC-II, and find that the 656x version is too pricey online, as the 856x version is quite a bit cheaper... and also less likely to fail and running a lot cooler.

I made one for myself when I needed to converted a C64 with a dead VIC from NTSC to PAL. Selling here the surplus that I have at cost. Kits and assembled versions available as well.

Note: This does NOT include a VIC chip.
